Did you know that all skin types can be dehydrated, even oily skin types? Dehydrated skin lacks water in the skin barrier. It’s possible that your skin can produce an abundance (or over-abundance) of sebum, but still be dehydrated. This happens when the skin barrier is compromised and not efficiently holding onto water. If your oily skin looks dull, feels tight, has a rough surface texture, is sensitive or reactive, or is developing lines and wrinkles, it may be dehydrated.

Many factors can lead to dehydration. One of the key offenders for oily skin types is over-exfoliation. Those of us with oily skin can sometimes feel the need to exfoliate daily, (with chemical or physical exfoliants), to combat sebum production or related acne. Oily skin types can be guilty of waging chemical warfare on their skin in an attempt to balance their complexion. Aggressive exfoliation, topical acne prescriptions and other drying acne products can do damage to the skin barrier if it isn’t also nourished and hydrated. This damage creates cracks in the skin barrier that allow water loss and leads to dehydration.

Dehydrated, oily skins need barrier repair! Lightweight, bio-identical lipids and sodium hyaluronate can help restore and repair the skin barrier so that it more effectively retains water. Skinfix barrier+ Triple Lipid-Hyaluronate Serum is ideal as a daily hydrator for even the oiliest skins. This soft, non-sticky, bouncy serum will effectively help refill and restore the lipids that are essential to skin barrier function and hydration. It’s a lightweight, soothing burst of deep hydration for thirsty, oily skin. For normal to dry skins, Triple Lipid-Hyaluronate serum is the perfect skin prep after cleansing and before lotion or cream. But for oily skin types, it may be plenty of hydration on its own.

All barrier+ products are formulated for all skins, including the most sensitive (even those prone to eczema, rosacea and irritation).
