Sustainability

"Do no harm” isn’t just our approach to skincare. Our sustainability philosophy is rooted in responsible formulation, eco-conscious packaging, and meaningful partnerships that drive quantifiable, positive environmental impact.

  • Created With Awareness

We know that as a brand, we’re creating physical products—and that comes with responsibility. Nearly every pound of plastic humankind has ever produced is still on the planet, and very little of that (estimated at just 9%!) makes it through recycling. Because of that, we take a full-circle approach to sustainability: not just designing for recyclability, but actively using recycled materials to reduce our demand for new resources. Not just reducing our own impact, but helping offset the industry’s larger footprint through plastic recovery and donations to environmental nonprofits.

For us, sustainability means looking at every ingredient, every component, and every decision through the lens of long-term ethical and environmental responsibility. We monitor our progress by conducting a Life Cycle Analysis on every product we make, and we're constantly evaluating and evolving our approach as we learn more—not just for your skin, but for the planet.

  • Sustainably Formulated

    Ingredient Traceability
We carefully manage our supply chain to ensure that over 80% of our ingredients are traceable to their source—many of which are also COSMOS or ECOCERT certified—supporting both ethical and environmental best practices.

    Low-Impact Sourcing
We prioritize biotech and upcycled ingredients in our formulas whenever possible, and work closely with our suppliers to ensure that any new harvesting avoids contributing to deforestation or harming biodiversity. Our palm-derived ingredients are responsibly sourced in accordance with RSPO standards.

    Planet-Safe Formulas
We avoid ingredients known—or even suspected—to harm the environment, including microplastics, mineral oil, and silicones that can persist in waterways. All of our rinse-off products are tested and proven to be 100% biodegradable.

  • Responsibly Packaged

    Responsible Design
All of our cartons are made from minimum 30% recycled FSC-certified paper using plant-based inks, and our packaging is made with a minimum of 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic—with most products exceeding that threshold. We work to reduce the use of virgin plastic wherever possible.

    Waste Reduction
When designing new products, our goal is to encourage recycling by creating packaging that’s recycle-ready. We avoid mixed materials and small components that can disrupt the recycling stream, and partner with Pact Collective at Sephora to support our community in responsibly recycling items they’re unsure about.

    Refillable Packaging
Our Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream refill system, which we launched in 2021 was independently verified by Toronto Metropolitan University to have a lower environmental impact than its non-refillable counterpart. Since then we have launched three more refill systems. By significantly reducing plastic use, they help lower the overall footprint of our most-loved formulas.
